Your Inner Child and Money

It’s important to remember that money is often a poor surrogate for the love and attention you may not have received as a child. You may have heard this before. If you were neglected as a child, you may have thought to yourself that you’re not important. It’s possible that you decided that you won’t be important to yourself, either. Or that it’s not appropriate. So why would you NOW make the effort to commit to your goals?

Your focus until now could have been on earning as much money as possible. The child inside of you, however, is still longing for love. But because the child is stuck in that particular past situation, where it still wants love from those people, it has no interest in earning money in the present. And because that child and you are the same, you won’t be motivated to go after the money, either. As a result, it will be difficult for you to commit and to focus on what you want now. But each time that you neglect yourself and your goals, your inner child feels the negligence. Unlike you, it doesn’t know where this comes from, which is a scary thing. And you, in turn, feel this fear. When you don’t understand where it comes from, it will paralyze you.
